Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 14th edition of the ‘Aero India 2023’ at Air Force Station, Yelahanka, Bengaluru on 13th February 2023. The theme for this year’s Aero India edition is ‘The Runway to a Billion Opportunities’. More than 80 countries are participating in the event. More than 700 defence companies, including 100 foreign and 700 Indian companies will display their indigenous equipment/technologies.
While addressing the event, the Prime Minister said that “Bengaluru sky is bearing testimony to the capabilities of New India. Today India is touching new heights and transcending them too.” Praising the event, he added that Aero India 2023 is an example of India’s evolving capabilities and the presence of other nations at the event displays their trust in India. He added “Today, Aero India is India’s strength and not just a show. It not only showcases the scope of the defence industry but also displays the self-confidence of the nation.”
The Prime Minister applauded the changing approach of New India. He said, “When the country moves forward with new thinking, new approach, then its systems also start changing according to the new thinking.” He encouraged everyone by mentioning that the aim is to take the defence exports industry from $1.5 billion to $5 billion by 2024-25.

The event will promote the export of domestic aviation platforms such as the Dornier Light Utility Helicopter (LUH), Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), and Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH). Additionally, by bringing together international investors and attracting co-development and co-production collaborations, the event will assist in integrating domestic MSMEs and start-ups into the global supply chain.
