Revolutionary poetry banned during the British Raj

A Selection from Poetry banned during the British Raj

Introduction

During India's struggle for Independence, many poets and writers wrote revolutionary pieces of literature which were banned by the British Government of India, as these writings were considered 'dangerous' to the 'security' of their rule in India. This body of literature aimed at arousing patriotic feelings in the minds of the people and invoking them to rise up to free India.

These unique collections, representing the feelings, aspirations and resolves of our freedom fighters, are available in various Indian languages, such as Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

This Section brings to you some representative pieces from these proscribed publications being recited by prominent personalities.
