Surendra Bhau Mithari Jain was a young and passionate freedom fighter who actively participated in the Civil Disobedience Movement in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. In December 1932, he was part of a band of young boys who took part in the movement and were prosecuted for their offenses.

Born in Kolhapur, Jain was only 18 years old when he gave anti-British speeches and came out in support of the Civil Disobedience Movement. He was a bold speaker and quickly gained a reputation as a stubborn protestor. During this time, he also took out processions, which became an important means of showing resistance against British rule. Despite his young age, Jain's contribution to the movement was significant. He fearlessly participated in protests, rallies, and other activities that challenged British rule in India. His courage and determination were admired by many. However, his participation in the Civil Disobedience Movement did not go unnoticed, and he was sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of fifty rupees under section 17(2) of the Criminal Law Amendment Act. Despite facing such consequences, Jain remained committed to the cause of Indian independence and continued to work towards it. His contribution to the movement, along with many other young freedom fighters like him, played a crucial role in shaping the Indian independence struggle.
