Launch of ‘Digital Payments Utsav’

Hon’ble Minister of Electronics & Information Technology, Communications, and Railways Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw launched ‘Digital Payments Utsav’ on 9th February 2023. Digital Payments Utsav is an exclusive campaign that promotes digital payments across India. Eminent dignitaries from the Government, Banking, and FinTech sectors were present at the event.

Under this campaign, various events and initiatives will be organised over a span of eight months showcasing the journey of India’s digital transformation. The series of events will be held between 9th February 2023 to 9th October 2023. The focus of the campaign is to promote digital payments in cities such as Pune, Lucknow, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.

While addressing the event, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw congratulated the banks for aligning with the Hon’ble Prime Minister's vision of bringing digital transformation to both urban and rural areas. He also discussed ‘Mission Bhashini’ a portal that enables digital services and access to the internet in regional languages.

Several other initiatives were also launched during the event including a G20 co-branded QR code and a coffee table book titled “Towards a Developed India Catalysing Inclusive Growth Through Digital Payments.”

Top-performing banks, bankers, and fintech start-ups received 28 ‘DigiDhan Awards’ across various categories at the event. These facilitations honoured the efforts of these organisations in the development of the digital economy of the country.

The Digital Payment Sandesh Yatra, a tour that will be conducted across the nation to educate citizens about digital payments and their security, was flagged off during the event.

Digital Payments Utsav is an important step taken by the Government to advance digital payments and accelerate India's digital transformation. The comprehensive campaign is anticipated to bring together a range of stakeholders, including the Government, businesses, and the general public.
