Sri KVN Chakradhar Babu, IAS, Collector & District Magistrate has inaugurated Mahatma Gandhiji’s statue at Collectorate compound, Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore District, Andhra Pradesh on 2nd October, 2021 in the event of 152nd Birth Anniversary of Mahatma and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahostav Celebrations.
While inaugurating statue of Mahatma, the District Collector has addressed all the District Officers and staff that, Collectorate compound is the first and foremost important administrative centre of the District. The main aim of establishing Mahatma Gandhiji’s statue along with his Talisman at Collectorate compound is to reiterate the role of public servant in discharging his duties.In his Talisman, Gandhiji has explained the relation of civil servant to his personal and public life. The Talisman should help a civil servant in pursuit of administrative justice in framing policies and to reach the benefits to the most needful persons; utilisation of resources in a fair and transparent manner; management of political interference in work. Mahatma’s Talisman will act as a key to the soul of humanity. It holds immense value and provides searchlight in the darkest hour of moral dilemma for any civil servant.
The Collectorate buildings were constructed in the year 1906, during British era. Mahatma’s statue is in Yogamudra, will give message to the civil servants entering into the compound of iconic buildings, motivating them to think about how his actions will benefit all the sections of the society.
