In Doda District, after the launch of the Clean India Program Doda Municipal Council by the District Administration, cleanliness drives have been carried out at the District level by various Government departments, Non-Govt. Organizations (NGOs), SHGs, NSS, etc.
The activities included cleanliness drives by Sanitation workers organizing cleanliness drive cleaning of main Bazaar, plastic waste collection on regular basis apart from a daily door-to-door collection drive by the Municipal Council Doda.
A clean city is a happy home. Door-to-door garbage collection raised awareness and motivated people to keep the neighbourhood clean. Waste segregation at source refers to the process of identifying and segregating various types of solid wastes at the place or location of their generation. The primary challenges with Source Segregation are a lack of public awareness of sorting, as well as a lack of collection infrastructure to support segregated waste pickup. Effective Source Segregation requires community action, appropriate infrastructure to handle segregated waste and trained collectors.
