Ahead of 74th Republic Day, a full dress rehearsal was held, on Tuesday, across all the Panchayat Halqa’s of District Ganderbal, giving a glimpse of the grand spectacle to unfold on Thursday. The rehearsal is a precursor to the actual Republic Day parade scheduled to be held on January 26. At District Headquarters Ganderbal, the full dress rehearsal was held at Madri -mehrbaan Stadium, Ganderbal where worthy Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Mr. Shyambir (IAS unfurled the tricolour and took salute at the March-past. On the occasion, various contingents of security agencies took part in the parade including J&K Police, J&K Armed Police, Indian Reserve Police, children from various educational institutions and NCC. Later, Deputy Commissioner witnessed various cultural programmes including folk dance and dance based on patriotic songs presented by different groups. Addressing the gathering, the DC said that the nation is paying rich tributes to the leaders, freedom fighters and martyrs who made countless sacrifices for the freedom of the country. Glorifying their contributions, he said that it is the result of their supreme efforts that we are living in a free country.
Among others present in the full dress rehearsal function were the Additional Deputy commissioner, Assistant commissioner Development Chief Planning Officer and other District sectoral officers from the civil administration and police department. At the Block level, various sarpanches and panchas of the respective blocks have unfurled the tricolour and remembered the sacrifice of freedom fighters and also discussed the importance of the republic day .
