The foundation of the cleanliness initiative ‘Swacch Bharat Abhiyan’ was laid by our Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 2nd October 2014. The scope of this mission was to make our villages, Gram Panchayats, Districts, States, and Union Territories "open-defecation free" over the next five years by constructing over 100 million toilets in rural India.
