Nadi Utsav was organized with the goal of emphasizing the crucial need to conserve India's rivers, which are currently under threat from a variety of factors including pollution, encroachment, and the impacts of climate change. The festival aimed to encourage community involvement in river conservation initiatives and inspire individuals to take steps towards safeguarding these invaluable resources. By raising awareness about the significance of rivers and promoting local engagement in conservation efforts, Nadi Utsav aimed to help ensure a sustainable future for these vital natural resources under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. National Water Mission with Rotary India Water Conservation Trust hosted the event.
The event was held on 27th March 2023, on the Jambhira River at Jhamvira Dam, Suliapada block in Mayurbhanj district, Odisha. The village, which is situated near the serene Jambhira River, offered the perfect setting for promoting the conservation and sustainable use of this precious natural resource. Notable guests including Rotary Past Governor CA Aswini Kar, many Rotarians from Baripada and Balasore, Mr. Bhagabat Marandi, the Mandal President, and Mr. Dillip Das social worker, add to the importance and significance of the event.
