Jagdish Prasad Pandey

Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh

April 02, 2024 to April 02, 2026

Jagdish Prasad Pandey was born in Sohriyawa near Payagpur in the Behraich district of Uttar Pradesh. Despite receiving only primary education in his native village, his upbringing instilled in him a deep sense of truth and honesty, thanks to the stories recited by his father. These narratives fostered a positive attitude and a strong determination to serve the nation.

Inspired by the tales of patriotism, Pandey eagerly joined the freedom movement. He actively participated in the Individual Movement launched by Mahatma Gandhi and VinobaBhave in 1940, enduring imprisonment and fines for his actions. During the Quit India Movement of 1942, he engaged in various revolutionary activities against British rule, facing arrest and a harsh jail term with strict confinement and torture by British officers.

Despite the hardships, Pandey remained undeterred in his quest for freedom. His tireless efforts and sacrifices for the nation are remembered in history.

Jagdish Prasad Pandey passed away on 7 May 1965 at his residence in Behraich district, Uttar Pradesh.
