Rambabu Dixit

Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh

April 02, 2024 to April 02, 2026

Ram Babu Dixit was born in Mehrapur village, Agra district, Uttar Pradesh, to Late Shri Ghasiram Dixit. His upbringing in a farmer’s family shaped his decision to pursue agriculture after completing primary education in his native village. Inspired by his father's tales of truth and integrity, he became deeply committed to fighting for his nation.

Initiating a movement against British colonial rule in the Kanpur district, he drew inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi and Vinobha Bhave's ideologies. Actively participating in pivotal events like the ‘Videshi Vastra Dahan Andolan’ and ‘Dandi Yatra,’ he faced imprisonment and a fine in 1932, enduring a period in Agra Jail.

Throughout the ‘Quit India Movement’ of 1942, Ram Babu Dixit fervently opposed British rule, enduring another period of imprisonment marked by harsh treatment. Despite the adversities, he persisted in his revolutionary activities upon release.

Ram Babu Dixit passed away on 12 December 1981. His unwavering commitment to India’s independence ensures his enduring remembrance in history.
