Paying tribute to India’s freedom fighters

Kirpa Singh belonged to the Hoshiarpur district. His father’s name was Jawahar Singh. He joined the British Indian Army’s 26 Punjabi units. His battalion was sent to Hongkong. Here, he came into contact with Ghadar Party members and joined them. He came into confrontation with his authorities. He left the battalion. Authorities dismissed him for his radical views. Upon his return to India, he joined Kartar Singh Sarabha and other ghadarites. When the Ghadar Party decided to start the uprising on 19 February 1915, he joined them. But that plan did not materialize as the British came to know the entire scheme. He was arrested by police. In the Lahore Conspiracy Case, he was sentenced to transportation for life. He was released from jail on 3 June 1932. Later on, he remained active in the social and political life of his village.
