Khushi Ram

Punjab

August 31, 2022 to August 31, 2023

Khushi Ram was from Lahore's Pindi Saidpur village. His father’s name was Bhagwan Das. He was born in the year 1900. As a young man, he was deeply influenced by the nationalistic crosscurrents that emerged following the end of World War I. When the Rowlatt Act was enacted by the British government, Mahatma Gandhi called this act a "black law," and it sparked the Rowlatt Satyagraha. In Punjab, there was a massive protest. On April 12, 1919, Khushi Ram led a protest against the Rowlatt Act in Lahore. The police opened fire on the protesters. Khusi Ram received nine bullets and died on the spot.
