Unsung Heroes Detail

Bejawada Gopal Reddy was born on 5 August 1907 at Buchireddy Palem Village in Nellore District. After completing his education at Andhra Jatiya Kalashala (1921-24) in Machilipatnam he joined Vishwa Bharati University, Santiniketan, West Bengal. After his return from Bengal in 1927, he joined the freedom movement and took an active part in the Salt Satyagraha and Quit India Movement. He was arrested and imprisoned at Vellore and Tanjavore jails. After the formation of Andhra State, he became the Chief Minister of Andhra State between March 1955-October 1956.
