Sangram Singh, a valiant freedom fighter and distinguished soldier, dedicated his life to the service of the nation. He was born in 1894 in the village of Nala, Guptkashi, block Ukhi, Uttarakhand state. Sangram Singh was the son of Dhani Ram. From an early age, Sangram Singh displayed a deep sense of patriotism and a strong desire to defend his country. He joined the Indian Army in 1924, where he served with great honor and dedication.
During the freedom struggle, Sangram Singh played a dual role, serving both as a soldier and a freedom fighter. He actively participated in various movements and initiatives aimed at liberating India from British colonial rule. He became a prominent leader, inspiring and mobilizing fellow soldiers and civilians alike to join the fight for independence.
Sangram Singh's military career was marked by exceptional achievements and accolades. He was recognized for his outstanding service with several awards, including the prestigious 1939–45 Star Medal, the Prestigious War Medal, the India Service Medal, and the Burma Star Queen Sea Badge.
Beyond his military contributions, Sangram Singh also worked tirelessly for social upliftment and the welfare of his fellow countrymen. He understood that true independence required addressing not only political freedom but also the socio-economic well-being of the nation.
Sangram Singh passed away on April 10, 1951, leaving behind a legacy of bravery, sacrifice, and dedication to the ideals of freedom and justice.
