Jagat Singh Kaprawan was born on March 18, 1919, in Sursal village near Bheeri-Augustmuni. He was the son of Sher Singh Kaprwan since there were no educational opportunities in his small village. He was a diligent and active student who obtained his education in Kandara village, where there was the temple of Rajrajeshwari. After some time, he went to Agustmuni to study middle class. Jagat Singh Kaparwan's focus later shifted towards the independent struggle.
He actively participated in the home rule movement and worked alongside leaders such as Pursotambagwari, Shambhu Prasad, and Sayan Singh. His wife also became involved in the independent movement. He was an active participant in the Quit India movement in 1942. He was arrested by the British government and imprisoned. Prison life strengthened his resolve and fighting spirit. He was a social worker and influenced him during the non-cooperation movement. He expressed his gratitude to the freedom fighters and also to social workers. He always helped the poor and needy women of Sursal and Kandara villages. For his contribution after 25 years of Indian independence, the Government of India presented him with a Tamra Patra. He passed away on February 12, 1999.
