Paying tribute to India’s freedom fighters

She was born Sarla Ghoshal on 9 September 1872, she was the niece of Rabindranath Tagore and was active in the national freedom struggle. She was among the first Indian women to form women's organizations. She married Congress activist RambhujDutt Chaudhari from Lahore in 1905, who died in 1923. She was very close to Mahatma Gandhi and her only son Dipak married Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson. She stood with the Bhagat Singh family during his trial and later execution. She died on 18 August 1945, ironically the day Netaji Subhas Bose died.
