A special screening of the film version of "The Mahabharata: Chapter of Desire and Chapter of Tempest" directed by Hiroshi Koike under the aegis of the KIKH Bridge Project, was held at the VCC Auditorium, Embassy of India, on 23rd and 24th September 2022 respectively. H.E. Sanjay Kumar Verma, Ambassador of India to Japan, inaugurated the event emphasizing the long history of India-Japan friendship, rooted in spiritual affinity and strong cultural and civilizational ties. Ambassador also remarked that "Mahabharata epitomizes the great heights of Indian consciousness, thereby representing the venerable culture of ancient India". Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi met with Hiroshi Koike san during his visit to Japan in May 2022 and the meeting was featured in the 89th episode of PM's ''Mann ki Baat''. The film screenings, held as part of the celebrations of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and India-Japan@70, took place over the course of two days and were well-attended by members of the public, who also had an opportunity to interact with the Director after the screening on both the days. Mr Sanjeev Manchanda, First Secretary, delivered the Vote of Thanks on September 24. India and Japan enjoy close cultural and people-to-people exchanges. India and Japan are also celebrating 70 years of establishment of diplomatic relations.
