Embassy of India hosted a reception to commemorate 73rd #RepublicDayof India. The event conducted with all Covid 19 protocols, was graced by H.E Mr. Hosoda Hiroyuki, Speaker of House of Representatives, H.E. Mr. Hayashi Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Yoshihide Suga, Former Prime Minister, and several other vice-ministers, parliamentarians, and senior functionaries from the Japanese government. Various captains of industry, eminent academicians, cultural personalities, media, prominent members of Diaspora, etc. were also present. Ambassador of India to Japan, H.E. Sanjay Kumar Verma underscored the multipronged nature of the India-Japan partnership and emphasized the complementarities and potential for cooperation. He called people-to-people ties a very important part of the Partnership. Co-innovation, co-creation, and co-production were mentioned as the way forward for the strengthening of the partnership. Special Strategic and Global Partnership and India-Japan at 70 were mentioned. The official logo of India-Japan @ 70 selected by MEA was also launched. A video message of Hon'ble EAM Dr. S. Jainshankar was also played during the ceremony. Foreign Minister of Japan Mr. Hayashi noted that India and Japan are working closely together to address common challenges. Former Prime Minister H.E Mr. Suga Yoshihide recalled his in-person meeting with PM Shri Narendra Modi in Washington DC; their 5 telephonic conversations and the inauguration of the Rudraksha Convention Center in Varanasi, India. A photographic exhibition depicting important milestones in India's evolution as a modern and progressive nation since 1947, coupled with important photographs of the India-Japan partnership, was also set up.
