Way forward to women’s financial inclusion- virtual awareness program by IEPFA in association with ICAI

Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA) in Association with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) organised a virtual Investor Awareness Programme to mark the occasion of “National Girl Child Day” on January 24, 2022.January 24th every year is observed as the National Girl Child Day in India in order to create awareness about the rights of the girl child, the importance of her education, and the overall health of the girl child. Through this program, efforts were made to spread awareness about women’s financial inclusion. Almost a half-day-long webinar was conducted on the occasion with experts from respective fields as key speakers. The key speakers include Dr. Pinky Agarwal Head of Centre for Policy Studies, ITM Group of Institutions, Pramod Jain, Vice Chairman, Women Members Empowerment Committee, ICAI, Dr. Amit Kr. Agrawal, Secretary, CCMIP, ICAI & Col. Tushar Anand, General Manager, IEPFA. C.A. Dr. Pinky Agarwal talked about various issues that are prevailing in the country pertaining to financial inclusion across the society and measures that can be taken to address and mitigate them. Various schemes introduced by the Government of India were also discussed to provide an overview of the benefits available to the public. C.A. Pramod Jain, highlighted the importance of women’s financial awareness while addressing the participants. The virtual programme was attended by more than 2000 participants across the country. Dr. Amit Kr. Agrawal, addressed the participants with the opening remarks & Col. Tushar Anand, General Manager, IEPFA emphasized the importance of financial literacy in rural villages in India, particularly in the North-Eastern states of the country. He also said that financial inclusion is not only necessary for women to access loans, credit and make transactions, but also to save money and build assets in a secure location, which can uplift their economic condition. IEPFA is committed to conducting this financial drive across India, and ICAI is a knowledge-sharing partner for IEPFA.
