Forum on compressed bio gas - Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI)

Forum (Webinar) on Compressed Biogas: As part of AKAM week celebrations, ARAI and TechNovuus conducted a virtual session on Compressed Biogas as Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation (SATAT) scheme and path to Net-Zero through Compressed Bio-Gas, on 11th January 2022 at 12.00 Hrs. to 13.00 Hrs. Director ARAI during the opening remark stressed that such government schemes serve as an opportunity for industry and R&D professionals to contribute effectively towards path Net-Zero and create job opportunities for youth as well as boost rural economy by doubling farmer’s income. On the occasion, Shri V. K. Jadhav read out the message of Hon’ble Minister, MHI. Shri Shantanu Gupta, Chief General Manager in Charge (AE&SD), IOCL presented the insights of how the program will establish an ecosystem for the production of Compressed Bio-Gas from various waste and biomass sources in the country leading to multiple possible benefits in the areas of Atmanirbhar Bharat, Environment & Sustainability, Swachha Bharat, Swastha Bharat, etc. Under the SATAT project, the Indian government plans to build 5000 CBG facilities by 2023-24, with a 15 MMT production target. The plan would reduce import dependency, create new job possibilities and increase farmer income. Shri Shantanu Gupta also answered various queries of the participants and urged young Engineers & Researchers to play an active role in Government projects like SATAT. The session ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. V. K. Jadhav, General Manager, ARAI.
