To celebrate the  Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) which is a celebration of the 75 years of India’s independence, Ministry of Health and family welfare  under the theme of “Arogyam- Overall Wellbeing” organizes “Health Mela” at all the Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness centers across all the states/ UTs. These Health Melas are held on 14th of every month that started since November 2022 and conducted with focus on overall wellness activities like Yoga, cycling, walkathon etc., Tele-consultation, screening of Hypertension, diabetes and common cancers (Oral and Breast cancer), Ante Natal care etc. Also, activities related with Annual Health calendar days are also being undertaken during the melas like World Cancer Day (4th February), National Deworming day (10th February).

On 14th January 2023, around 5652 Health Melas have been conducted across 35 states/UTs. The event had Jan Bhagidari of approximately 99931 footfalls. In the Health Melas, ABHA IDs created, PMJAY Golden cards issued, teleconsultations, Yoga/Wellness/Meditation sessions, screening for  Hypertension, Diabetes, Oral Cancer, Breast Cancer , Cataract and Tuberculosis done. Antenatal care services has also been provided to pregnant women.

During the Mela,s, SAM children had been identified and Children were immunized for Vaccine preventable diseases. Free medicines and free diagnostic services facilities provided during the event.
