Magharam Vaidya

Magharam Vaidya, an experienced physician (Vaidya) of Bikaner district, Rajasthan, became an early member of the Indian Congress in the year 1921. In 1932, he assisted the accused in the Bikaner Conspiracy Case. He participated in the establishment of the Praja Mandal on the 4th of October, 1936, and in the Udarsar Kisan Sammelan in the same year. He remained in exile from the year 1937 for 6 years. From the year 1937 to 1940, he was the Prime Minister of the I.E. Youth League in Calcutta. In June 1945, he was arrested for participating in the Dudhwakhara Farmers’ Movement. He went on a fast for 34 days in jail. He was released from jail on 27th July 1946. In 1947, he became the head of the Nagar Praja Parishad. He was also the head of Bikaner District Congress Committee. He fought the election for the Rajasthan Dhara Sabha on a Congress ticket from Bikaner Tehsil and Lunkaransar region.
