Chaganraj Chopasaniwala joined the cause of Indian independence upon the incident that happened in the Marwar Princely State Lok Parishad Conference in 1931, where a few anti-social elements disrupted the proceedings of the Conference (where personalities to the like of Smt Kasturbha Gandhi and Kaka Kalelkar were present). Upon his participation in the Pushkar Sammelan and return to Jodhpur, Abhaymal Jain was fired from his job in the Railways. Jainarayanji Gajja was forced to resign from his position. A court suit was filed against Narsinghdasji Lukad, Dauji Maheshwari and Kanji Lohiya. Their houses and shops were confiscated by the British government and fine was imposed on them. In 1932, 'Bal Bharat' institution was established in order to grant the much-required pace to the freedom movement.

An the year 1932, he unfurled the tricolor in Jodhpur, and highlighted the wrong policies of the government in the Delhi Session – upon which he was house arrested. He helped the cause of education of the harijans. In 1938-1940, during the times of harsh famine, he did unmatched work for the society. He also undertook multiple efforts towards the Khadi Gram Udhyog.
