Impact of the Bardoli Resolution in Saran

Saran, Bihar

June 07, 2023 to June 07, 2024

The Bardoli Satyagraha of 1928 was a significant event in the Indian independence movement. The Bardoli Resolution was a document drafted during the satyagraha, expressing the demands and grievances of the farmers. It called for the withdrawal of the unjust tax increase and advocated for just treatment of the farming community.  It garnered support in the Saran district of Bihar.

The impact of the Bardoli Resolution in Saran was primarily seen in the awakening of the local population's political consciousness. The successful resistance against the unjust land tax policies in Bardoli inspired people in  Saran to question and challenge similar exploitative policies implemented by the British administration in their own region. There were several people from different communities who were involved in carrying forward the protest against the Dighwana Thana of the Saran, Under the supervision of  Ram Binode Singh.

The spirit and ideals of the Bardoli Satyagraha continued to reverberate in Saran, shaping the region's involvement in subsequent phases of the independence movement. The courage and resilience displayed by the participants in the Bardoli Satyagraha served as a guiding light for future generations in their quest for freedom, self-governance, and social justice.
