Unsung Heroes Detail

K.R. Manjammal was born in 1908 at Ramanathapuram. She was inspired by Gandhiji in childhood and participated in the freedom struggle. In 1927, Gandhiji visited Madurai, where she met Gandhiji. She participated in and worked for the INC conference in 1932 in Ramanathapuram District and was imprisoned for one year. She took part in the Salt Satyagraha and was imprisoned for one month. She passed away on 7 March, 1978.
