He belonged to Garhwal Uttarakhand. He was a Hawaldar in 5/18 Garhwal Riffles of the British Indian Army. After the formation of Azad Hind Fauj in 1942. He joined as a Lieutenant in the 3rd Infantry Battalion. He was killed at the Burma front in 1945.
