Paying tribute to India’s freedom fighters

Niranjan Singh belonged to Village Sangatpura of Ludhiana district of Punjab. He became acquainted with Sohan Lal Pathak who later became the most important leader of the Ghadar Party in Burma. He assisted Sohan Lal Pathak for all he was worth. He participated in organizing and mobilizing the Indian soldiers stationed in Burma for upstaging an uprising. He was arrested and tried in the first Mandalay Conspiracy Case. On 27 July 1916, the British court pronounced its judgment. In court hearings, Judges noted: that Nirinjan Singh was of the same party as Narain Singh and he employed himself in seducing the Military Police. There could not be a more serious aspect of the conspiracy than this. The sentence of this court is that he be hanged by the neck till he is dead”. On 27 July 1916, Niranjan Singh was sentenced to death in the First Mandalay Conspiracy Case
