Sajjan Singh belonged to the Kukrana village of Moga. His father’s name was Kora Singh. In Argentina, he joined the Ghadar Party and returned to India with the stated goal of participating in the freedom struggle. With the assistance of Indian soldiers, the Ghadar Party attempted to stage an uprising on February 19, 1915. The plan was discovered by British officials and many ghadarites were arrested. On February 19, seven people were apprehended in the Anarkali quarter with inkpot bombs, weapons, and chemicals. As a result of these arrests, police officers were on high throughout the city. On 20 February 1915, three ghadarites, Sajjan Singh, Harnam Singh Sialkoti, and Banta Singh were apprehended by police in Lahore's Anarkali Bazar. Chief Constable Mahsam Ali Shah questioned them. Sajjan Singh fired at him point blank. He also shot another havildar before fleeing the scene. Other ghadarites were also able to flee. Sajjan Singh was pursued by police and locals. He was apprehended and taken to the police station. He was tried in the Anarkali Case, Trail No. 5 of 1915. The judge convicted him under sections 302 and 307 of the Indian Penal Code and sentenced him to death by hanging by the neck. His movable and immovable assets were forfeited by the government.
