Hemchandra Mukherjee was a freedom fighter and son of the Late Ras Raj Mukherjee. His year of birth is 1925. His wife’s name was the Late Rani Bala Mukherjee. He had contributed to 1942, Quit India Movement. He was educated till the tenth standard. During the Quit India Movement, he went to jail for 4 years in Rangpoor Jail, Bangladesh. He was in contact with Gandhiji. He was a true follower of Gandhiji and followed the path of truth similar to that of Gandhiji. He was also one of the chief freedom fighters from Jamshedpur amongst all other freedom fighters. He used to work as SER in Fitter Turner. For his contribution to independence, he received a copper plate from Prime Minister Lt. Indira Gandhi on 15 August 1972. He died on 7 march 1988.
