Aftab Ali, son of Akbar Ali, was born on 15 December 1915 in Aberdeen village, Port Blair. In June 1942, he joined the Indian National Army. He took an active part in the Guard of Honour presented to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on 29, 30, and 31 December 1943 at Port Blair. He was arrested in August 1944 and incarcerated in the Cellular Jail. He faced brutal torture for about three months before he was released from jail. He died on 17 September 1993.
