Mahima Singh was deported from Punjab to Andaman on transportation. He lived at Dundas Point. In 1942, he joined the Indian Independence League (IIL). He was arrested during the mass arrest in October 1943 and interned in the Cellular Jail. During his imprisonment, he received inhuman and barbaric torture. On 30 January 1944, he was shot dead by the Japanese squad and buried in an ‘L’ shaped mass grave with 43 others in a row at Homfraygunj in South Andaman. A memorial ‘Balidan Vedi’ has been erected in memory of them at the spot where they got martyrdom.
