Unsung Heroes Detail

Bhimbor Deori was born on 16 May 1903. He was a freedom fighter and a lawyer from the state of Assam. He was one of the main architects of the “Khasi Darbar Hall Resolutions”. In these resolutions, indigenous leaders of different ethnic identities resolved to restore their independent homelands. He was the General Secretary of Assam Backward Plains Tribal League in 1933. He worked to ensure that indigenous Assamese people be allotted land pattas when the British government was not stopping the remission of land revenue. With his efforts Assam province was included in the Republic of India, refusing British Viceroy’s plan to include it in Pakistan.
