Unsung Heroes Detail

Veerabhadra Rao was a resident of Guntur, distt. Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. He attended the meeting at Guntur Gandhi Park on 13 August 1942, at 6 pm, held to protest against the arrests of the Indian National Congress leaders for their Quit India Resolution. While the crowd gathered and listened to the Radio news, some threw stones on the roadside from the park. This enraged the police who opened fire on the assembled protesters. Rao was hit by a bullet, sustained injuries, and succumbed to the injuries.
