He was one of the defenders of the region, who fought against the British invasion and tried to occupy the state by force. Pasaltha Khuangchera and his comrades defended their country against three advancing British contingents. Mizoram was incorporated into the colonial empire during the end of the 19th century.
The resistance against British colonialism in Lushai Hills was no less fierce than in any other part of India. The main goal of colonialism was to extract recognition of the British supremacy from the Mizo people, while invading their sovereign homeland. The region was formally incorporated into the British Empire in 1895.
Pasaltha Khuangchera is not only known for his bravery but also his strength and righteousness that won over the hearts of his people. He was killed while trying to resist advancing the British troops in 1890, which saw the British conquest of the Lushai Hills.
