Singhara Singh was a resident of Phoenix Bay, the Andaman Islands, employed as a motor driver in the Supply Department by the British Authority. He joined the Indian Independence League in 1942 and actively worked for its financial viability. He was arrested by the Japanese forces during their occupation of the Islands (1942-45) on the charge of his being a kept British spy. Confined in the Cellular Jail, he died in it on 25 January 1944, due to prolonged tortures and confinement.
