Prime Minister’s address at the G-20 Summit 2022

Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the first session of 17th G-20 Leaders’ Summit organised in Bali, Indonesia from 14th - 16th November 2022. first session focused on Food and Energy Security. In his address, the Prime Minister congratulated President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, for his leadership and for organising the G-20 summit amidst a challenging global environment.
The Prime Minister talked about various global constraints that countries are facing these days and mentioned that there are great expectations from the world leaders present at the G-20 summit. He said on the occasion “the onus of creating a new world order for the post-Covid period lies on our shoulders. The need of the hour is to show concrete and collective resolve to ensure peace, harmony, and security in the world. I am confident that next year when the G20 meets in the holy land of Buddha and Gandhi, we will all agree to convey a strong message of peace to the world.”
During the pandemic, India ensured food security for its citizens and provided food supply to other countries as well. He urged everyone present at the occasion to form a mutual agreement for maintaining the supply chain of manure and food grains globally. He added that India is encouraging natural farming methods and popularizing nutritious food grains such as millets. Grains like these can solve the problem of global malnutrition and hunger.
Explaining India’s focus on the energy sector, the Prime Minister added “Stability in the energy market should be ensured. India is committed to clean energy and the environment. By 2030, half of our electricity will be generated from renewable sources. Time-bound and affordable finance and sustainable supply of technology to developing countries is essential for the inclusive energy transition.”
