Seminar held on the occasion of constitution day

The Embassy of India in Lebanon organized a high-level Seminar on November 26, 2021, on the occasion of Constitution Day of India. Judge Jean Fahed, former president of the Supreme Court & Former President of the Supreme Judicial Council of Lebanon, and eminent lawyer Rima Fawaz Husseini were the main speakers along with Ambassador Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan. A Documentary on the Constitution of India was screened and Second Secretary Mr. Sandeep Grover read the preamble of the constitution. Ambassador Dr. Khan, in his speech, paid homage to Dr. B R Ambedkar, the Father of the Indian Constitution, and remembered all those who contributed to the drafting and making of the Constitution. He focused on the working of the Indian Parliament and the election process in India in the context of the constitutional provision. He also spoke about judicial independence, independence of the Election Commission of India, the robustness of the electoral process in India, separation of powers between various bodies of the state, cooperative federalism, and rights and duties of the citizens. Judge Meddy Moutran, Judge of the Court of Cassation(Supreme Court) of Lebanon, and Judge Maya Karam also graced the occasion. The event was also attended by prominent members of the Beirut Bar Association, media personnel, members of the civil society, and the Indian Diaspora.
