On November 14, 2021, the Indian diaspora, especially children, were invited to the Embassy to take part in the quiz for the diaspora children on the theme of “Dekho Apna Desh”, under the AKAM initiative.
There was a really good response and more than 50 persons, including children came to participate in the quiz, in spite of the fact that there are still COVID-related restrictions in place in Jakarta.
Ambassador, Shri Manoj Kumar Bharti addressed the gathering and spoke about the AKAM initiative, and thanked the Indian community for coming together for the event even during these difficult times.
The quiz shared by the Ministry of Women and Child Development was curated for diaspora children who have been in Indonesia for a long time. The children and their parents took part in the quiz actively. Small gifts were handed out to the winners.
An award ceremony was also held to felicitate the winners of the painting competition held in the Embassy on 30th October 2021 as part of the celebration of the “Rashtriya Ekta Saptah”. Gift vouchers, trophies, and certificates were awarded. Madam Ambassador and Ambassador distributed the prizes.
The cultural aspect consisted of singing and dancing by the diaspora children. Members of the Indian community spontaneously sang “Saare Jahan Se Acha”, lending a very patriotic fervor to the event.
The quiz and the awards event brought the Indian community much closer to the Indian Embassy and the diaspora went away happy and feeling very connected.
Light Indian refreshments were also arranged.
