Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav – Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Sri Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy has performed “Bhoomi Puja” and initiated the construction works of “Greenfield Ramapatnam Port” on 20.07.2022 at Ramayapatnam, Sri PottiSriramulu Nellore district at an initial cost of Rs.3,740 Cr., to spur port-led industrial growth in the region.
The A.P.State Government is developing the port with a view to generating more revenue from the port operation. Nearby world-class granite and tobacco exports from this port will boost industrial development in the region. It will be a game changer for underdeveloped areas of the region, aimed at developing and improving transport infrastructure to reduce logistic costs in the country.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister of A.P. has stated that the South Coastal Andhra people’s dream project of Greenfield Ramayapatnam Sea Port is proposed to have 4 berths with a cargo handling capacity of 25 million tonnes and it will be completed in 36 months to transform the region. He said that the Government had set the focus on the development of ports and harbors as they would generate massive employment and help boost the economy. He was elaborating on his grandiose maritime vision with a view to adding 328 million tonne cargo handling capacity by setting up a string of seaports on the east coast.
Sri K.V.N. Chakradhar Babu, I.A.S., Collector & District Magistrate, Sri PottiSriramulu Nellore District has stated that the District Administration has acquired private land of 803.00 acres, which was expected to displace over 690 families and handed it over to the A.P.Maritime Board. The Collector said that the project is certain to open new avenues for port-based industries and create employment for a large number of unemployed youth in the region. He envisioned a fast development pace in the region with wide scope for exports once the port becomes operational.
