As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and India Japan @70, Remembering Mahatma Gandhi in Tokyo the event was organized by Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Embassy of India, Tokyo in collaboration with Japan - Bharat Sarvodaya Mitrata Sangha at the Nipponzhan Myohoji temple. The event was held to commemorate the death anniversary and to pay homage to Father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi. H.E. Shri Sibi George, Ambassador of India to Japan paid tributes to Gandhi ji and addressed the gathering. In his address, the Ambassador highlighted the increasing significance of Bapu's ideals in the current world order. This was followed by a lecture on “Today’s Significance of Gandhiji’s teachings” by prof Ayako Uno. The event was attended by a number of Japanese and Indian nationals.
