Under ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM)’ and aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, the Government of India, Oil India Limited organized a cultural program to promote Northeast India’s rich culture and heritage at the University of Science and Technology, Ri-Bhoi District, Meghalaya on 26.09.2022.
The program was attended by Shri Abhijit Borgohain, Chief General Manager (Pipeline Services), Shri Jayanta Hazarika, Chief General Manager (PLM, MM, OM), Shri Madhurjya Barua, Chief General Manager (HR&A), and other senior officials of OIL along with Prof. G.D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Balendra Kumar Das, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Dr. RK Sarma, Advisor, professors and more than 5000 students of USTM. The plethora of different cultures of the eight Northeastern States of India was showcased via dance and music during the program. The different folk dances and music of Assam were also performed. The show was hugely successful in creating awareness and excitement amongst everyone present, especially the younger generation regarding the rich and diverse heritage of our country.
