On 20 Jan Indian Embassy in Tokyo in association with Tokyo Foundation Chapter of Ikebana International and in presence of Mrs. HAYASHI, spouse of the Foreign Minister of Japan, organized 'Saree and Bouquet', celebrating the confluence of the tradition of Saree & Ikebana India-Japan@70.
The event featured a fashion walk by members of Ikebana International and members of
Indian Embassy of Tokyo showcasing handcrafted sarees from various parts of. Each participant was presented with a bouquet made by members of Ikebana International. Amb Verma described Saree as not only a tradition but an identity of India and its regions. He elaborated that the making of a handloom saree is closely linked to the fulfillment of SDGs and contributes to alleviating poverty, preserving cultural traditions, and empowering women.
