Celebration of National Youth Day by Embassy of India in Suriname

The Embassy of India in Paramaribo celebrated the 160th Birth Day of Swami Vivekananda as the “National Youth Day” at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center (SVCC) in Paramaribo on 12 January 2022. The program began with the lighting of the traditional lamp and garlanding of the portrait of Swami Vivekananda.  In keeping with the Swami’s clarion call “Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached,” the Kathak Guru and the students of the Kathak class of the SVCC performed youthful Kathak dances.  Ambassador Shankar Balachandran, Pandit Nitin Jagbandhan, Chairman, Sanatan Dharam Maha Sabha, and Mr. Sardhanand Panchoe, Former Senior Protection Officer and Head of Field Office, UNHCR spoke on the occasion.  Documentaries on Swami Vivekananda were screened. An Online Quiz on Swami Vivekananda was also organized by Embassy in which Indian Diaspora participate in large numbers. Over 30 people attended the event.
