On the occasion of Vijay Diwas, Consulate General of India, Toronto organized an event to commemorate the contributions of the war heroes of the Bangladesh Liberation War which resulted in the independence of Bangladesh.
24 Veterans from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force who participated in the Liberation War of 1971 attended and shared their experiences. It was graced by the Consul General of Bangladesh in Toronto, Mr. Nayem Uddin Ahmed. The event was held in the Chancery building.
Consul General of India, Ms. Apoorva Srivastava in her opening remarks lauded the contributions of our veterans, commended the development of Bangladesh, and hailed bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh. Consul General of Bangladesh in Toronto Nayem Uddin Ahmed also spoke about diplomatic ties between India and Bangladesh, 50 years of friendship between both countries, and Bangladesh’s resolve to development. He also thanked the Indian forces and the veterans for their support in the Liberation War.
A photo exhibition was also organized on the occasion.
