On the occasion of DAE Iconic Week celebrations under Azadika Amrit Mahotsav at AMD, various events were conducted in two (02) sessions (FN/AN). The first session comprised a visit to AMD premises by students and faculty from schools & colleges in Hyderabad. Students and faculty were presented with a welcome kit which included an AMD info sheet and a cap embossed with logos of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and AMD. Students and faculty visited the museum of AMD where they have shown keen interest in various minerals/ rocks and fossils. It was an enthralling experience for them to see the various radioactive minerals and rocks including fluorescent secondary uranium minerals. Subsequently, the students and faculty gathered in the auditorium where DAE and AMD films were screened. This was followed by a motivational address by the Officers. Subsequently, three (03) lectures were delivered by scientists of AMD explaining the fundamentals of nuclear electricity generation, the exploration of minerals with special reference to uranium and the role of nuclear energy in achieving net-zero carbon dioxide emission. A quiz competition was conducted for students. Pens were given to the winners as rewards. The session concluded with an interactive session between students/ faculty and scientists of AMD on various aspects of nuclear energy.
