On April 16, 2023, the Collector and Food Safety Administration of District Indore, Madhya Pradesh organized the Eat Right Millets Mela and Walkathon at 56 Dukan to promote millet usage. The event was inaugurated by Hon'ble Member of Parliament, Indore Mr. Shankar Lalwani ji.
About 1500 participants, including NCC cadets, school students, army personnel, government officials, and the general public, took part in the walkathon. The mela had various stalls of millet food items and information related to the use of millets.
The visitors appreciated the event and learned that millet-based dishes could be a healthy substitute for junk food. Various competitions like poster making, slogan competition, recipe competition, and cultural programs were also organized. The event was a bridge between sellers and consumers of millets, and both benefited vastly from it. The event attracted about 8,000 visitors.
