Pandit Sundarlal

Pandit Sundarlal was born in 1885 in the Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. He was a social reformer, activist, freedom fighter, and journalist. He was part of the revolutionary group, The Ghadar Party.

 

His association with the famous freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai inspired him to write about the freedom struggle in India. He authored several books, among which was Bharat Mein Angrezi Raj. The book was banned by the British and was republished after the ban was lifted. The book talked about British rule, the condition of India during the time, the atrocities of the British, etc. Pandit Sundarlal was also the editor of bi-weekly newspapers namely, Karamyogi and Swarajya Hindi. In 1941, he founded the Hindustani Culture Society. From 1950-1960 he was also the President of the All-India Peace Council and the India–China Friendship Association. 

 

Through the power of his pen, Pandit Sundarlal inspired the people of India to fight for their rights and stand up against the atrocities of the British force.
