He was an active member of Mrityu Bahini (suicidal squad) of Telegaon region then Darrang District. He used to organize village gatherings in the Telegaon region and preach to the villagers about why independence is necessary and also request the villagers to boycott foreign goods. As he was an active member of Quit India Movement, the British often used to go to their home to investigate him to arrest him. At that time they used to have Talatal Ghar, from which there was a system to hide downstairs from inside the house. He used to hide in that house. During the Quit India Movement on 20 September, there was a procession from Telegaon to Dhekiajuli where he organized the procession. After reaching Dhekiajuli Thana, he faced the lathi charge and escape from that place. He hid for many days after that incident. He was not arrested because he was able to escape. After a few days, he came back to his home. He died a natural death after the Independence. He left his daughter and his wife. Although he was an active participant and a leader as well his family did not get any pension for his participation in the freedom struggle which was largely based on his jail records.
