V.K Sathe

Pune, Maharashtra

December 02, 2022 to December 02, 2023

V.K Sathe also known as ‘Bao Sathe' was from Pune. He was Bombay’s (undivided Bombay State) Minister for Civil Supplies and Industries. He was the President of the Poona District Congress Committee, a Member Maharashtra Provincial Congress Committee, and General Manager of Kesari Newspaper, Pune. He was a dedicated congress worker, who worked significantly to achieve Independence. On 27 November 1940, he offered Satyagraha by shouting anti-war slogans at Chinchwad, Pune, and was taken to Yerwada Central Jail under the Defence of India Rules from his residence in Poona in the afternoon. He was sentenced to one year's simple imprisonment. He was placed in B class. It was reported that he was released from Yerwada Jail on 14 November 1941. Sathe’s film gives us a sense of the age of commitment to the Gandhian Satyagraha Movement. Sathe hasn’t left much of his last days' info to get included in his story.
